We're ENGAGED

On Sunday night we headed up to the top of Grandeur Peak. We got started a little later than planned but Tess was full of energy and the weather was perfect so we were excited to enjoy the evening! Everything is so green and vibrant right now. The wild flowers are all in bloom and we were able to see some of the most beautiful blue bells and delphinium! I think both Jer and I were loving just being out in such a beautiful place. Tess was loving it too! She ran through all the streams all the while smiling like crazy! Needless to say though Jer and I aren't in as good of shape as we should be and so the hike was a little harder than we thought it would be or maybe it was because we were trying to beat the sun going down. The whole way up Jer kept saying "I don't think we're going to make it!" I was just caught up in the moment and didn't really understand the urgency in actually making it all the way to the top (duh) but we both just kept moving forward and decided that we would be ok to walk down in the dark since Jer had his trusty head lamp! Well we did make it to the top and let me just say it was worth it for more than one reason! The view from this peak is absolutely breath taking! There was a lightening storm going on the west side of the valley that was amazing to watch! (Don't worry Mom the lightening was far from us) So we took some pictures and then Jer took care of Tess. He then told me that we needed to head down before it got too late but he had a question for me first.... He got down on his knee, pulled out a beautiful ring and asked me, yes me to marry him! And I said YES! (I think I even yelled so everyone in the valley could hear) I seriously felt like the luckiest girl in the whole world! He asked me on this peak so that we could always see the spot where we decided to be together forever! I hope that regardless of what we go through in the future we will remember what we saw on that peak... we were able to see the bigger picture. I think if we will focus on the bigger picture throughout our lives we will make it to our ultimate goal! The trip down was an adventure all its own... it was dark but the head lamp worked great! We got down all the way safely until the very end and then I took a spill but I was floating on cloud 9 so the bruises and such were no big deal! The funniest part of the adventure was that we were greeted at the end of our journey by a SKUNK! He came running out of the bushes ready to spray but we back peddled and got out of his way! So luckily we (including Tess) didn't go home smelling. What a memorable night! Thanks Jer for making my night perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better evening! I truly am the luckiest girl in the world!
