Playa Del Carmen

Life gets busy and I get behind on the blog... but I had to share our most recent (it's only taken me 3 months to post these;)) adventure from over the Spring Break and Easter holiday. It all started on Valentines Day when Jer surprised me with a red file filled with pictures of a resort and a plane reservations. We were headed to The Banyan Tree Mayakoba in Playa delCarmen. So the countdown began and then finally the time came to pack the swim suits and board the plane. We arrived in Cancun to 90 degree weather and found a shuttle to get us to our hotel. Our resort was amazing and everyone was friendly right off the bat. We were immediately taken to our villa complete with our own private yard and swimming pool. We spent the rest of our first day exploring the resort and ate diner at Tamarind a restaurant in the hotel. We then headed over to the spa and went through their "rain forest experience". It was very fun. We started in a steam room infused with eucalyptus. Then we went into a shower room that changed temperatures and intensity. We went through several different steam stations and shower rooms and ended in a long pool. The pool had "bubble" beds and various hot tubs. It was pretty cool because you have the whole area to yourself. It was really unique. On our second day our friends the Billingsleys came over from Cozemel and spent the day with us. We went to Tulum and saw some amazing ruins. We had a great guide... was the stake president of the area and his name was Leumuel. He has a brother Helaman, a sister Alma, and a nephew Nephi. He told us all about the ruins and how it ties into the Book of Mormon. He also took us swimming in a cenote or sink hole under a cave. It was so neat to snorkel through clear, fresh water. We spent the evening in town. The Billingsleys took the ferry back toCozemel but we hung out walking through Playa Del Carmen and taking in the sites. Our 3rd day we went over to Cozemel and spent the morning at the Billingsleys resort. The ferry ride over was wet and fun. You are on this gigantic boat going across some pretty choppy water so we got a little wet! The morning was spent swimming and snorkeling the bay in front of the resort. Then the Billingsleys headed to the airport to go home and Jer went off to scuba dive. I stayed at their resort and sunbathed while Jeremy was gone. He had a blast and saw Eagle rays, turtles, and barracuda. We then rode the ferry back to Playa and headed to our resort for dinner and relaxing. Day 4 was spent at our resort... finally. We rented bikes and headed down to the beach for the morning. We then rode back up and spent the afternoon at the spa for some much needed pampering. Unfortunately both of us were sunburned so there was a bit of pain but still oh so relaxing! We had our treatments done in our own little bungalow over the water. We had Thai massages which were amazing! Everything was perfect. Our 5th day was our final day... we spent the morning on our bikes and at the beach. Sadly we then had to pack up and head to the airport. We had so much fun being together and enjoying a new place. I just have to let everyone know how lucky I am! This vacation came at the perfect time. I needed time with Jeremy and a place to get away from it all. Jeremy is an amazing husband and has been so patient, kind, and loving through all of our little challenges. He is so considerate of my needs and takes such good care of me. I appreciate his thoughtfulness in planning and surprising me with this wonderful trip! I am the luckiest girl in the world to have a man like him!

Back to School....

I wait all year for my summer vacation to come and guess what... ITS OVER. So where did the summer go? What happend to all the projects I was going to complete? I had big plans for this summer and somehow is has slipped by me.
Some would say (and they shall remain nameless) that I stretch myself too thin. I think I would have to agree at this point. I have had a ton of fun this summer but it seems that I have filled my summer with so many things that I ran out of time to do some things for myself. Such as: read all those books on my list or work out 4 days a week like I had hoped or even go wake boarding. We haven't been out on our boat once this season! Now I don't mean to sound negative because again life is absolutely fabulous. I just want to remind everyone and especially myself that it is important to stop and slow down a little, relax and enjoy the precious moments of life.
I was at Mill Hollow hiking with a group of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders this past week and thinking about all the things I needed to get done in the next weeks before school starts back up and needless to say I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. And then I saw this.....
A picture really doesn't do it justice. We had just hiked up to this ridge and we could see the valley in full bloom below and the mountain ranges in the distance. The sky was blue and the wind was blowing through the pine carrying the sound of ocean waves and the scent of Christmas through the air. At that moment all other cares departed and all I could think was how fortunate I was to be there right then. What blessings we have all around us all we have to do is stop and realize them. I tend to get so busy thinking about the things I NEED to do. I make lists and try to stay organized (although I am a work in progress in this department), planning always planning. I am sometimes too busy planning for the future that I miss the beauty of the here and now. I am going to challenge myself this upcoming week to take the time to find and realize the blessings of each moment. Maybe by doing this I will find peace and calm and truly enjoy the end of my summer!

Father's Day Celebration!

This past weekend we had the privilege of celebrating all the great men in the Wimmer family. We met up at Sugar House Park for a picnic and fun. We missed Brett and Landon and wish they could have joined in! I just want Jeremy to know how much I love him... It was his birthday this last week as well and he amazes me more everyday. He tries so hard to make sure that I am well taken care of and I appreciate that. It is so fun to watch him interact with our nieces and nephews. I know that he will be a great father someday!

Here are some fun pictures from our little celebration!

We truly have some of the cutest nieces and nephews. Thanks to everyone for making it such a great day!

Happy Belated Father's Day...

I couldn't end this blog without honoring my own Dad. He has taught me so much... Hard work is key to success and you can never give up! Always walk with a purpose and remember to try your hardest. These are the things my Dad has taught me by example! He is my hero and I love him so much. He is such a patient man and has always tried to help me be my best self. I appreciate his support and counsel. Thanks Dad for all you do and all you have taught me... I love you forever!

Choose Your Favorite...

The Utah State Fair is coming up in just a couple of weeks. One of my favorite things about the fair is the photography exhibits. I have always wanted to have a picture on display... sounds silly but its true. Last year I shared my love for this exhibit with Jer and he enjoyed it as well. So I decided (emphasis on I) to enter some of our pictures. I can't decide which ones though so we need your help... Let us know which ones you like best. They are amateur but why not enter and see what happens! Have a happy day!

Pioneer Day!

We had so much fun over Pioneer Day weekend. Jan started our weekend by coming down Thursday and going with us to the Oquirrih Mountain Temple Open House. I wish I would have taken pictures of the outside of the temple. It is beautiful. Jan spent the night and then she headed to Trent's. Friday, we went to Oma Wimmer's birthday party out at the family farm and had fun seeing family, eating and playing. Later we got to go and watch Mike Sky Dive for the first time! It was fun to watch and we were glad we could be there for it. We finished the day at the Real Soccer Game where the Real won 4 to 2. We watched fireworks there at the stadium! It was a great day! We spent Saturday relaxing . Well, I first trained for my half marathon and then we relaxed. Sunday was another restful day. We had the privilege of teaching the CRT 2 class at the Swahili branch in our stake. I have to say Jer did a great job teaching and helping the kids to be reverent. He is such a patient, loving person! I sure am lucky! Overall it was a great weekend! We love you all and hope you are enjoying your summer as much as we are!Weston loved swinging over the ditch at the farm!
"Uncle Jeremy push me HIGHER!"
Mike coming down!

Mike and his instructor.
This is what it looked like when Mike landed but there were too many people standing in front of him to get a shot of it so this is just another jumper.
Papa and the girls.
Happy Birthday Oma! We were glad she got to watch the big jump.

Weston slept through all the excitement.
Watching Sky diving videos and trying to keep cool.
Thanks Taytum for taking a great picture of our family!
The crowd getting settled on the field after the game... waiting for fireworks!

Happy Pioneer Day!
